The Squeeze Movie Review

The Squeeze is a movie about Las Vegas golf, gambling, love and death.

It featured:

Jeremy Sumpter

Christopher McDonald

Jillian Murray

Michael Nouri

It was about high stakes gambling matches in Las Vegas and was based on a true story of Keith Flatt.

The movie was released in 2015 was directed by Terry Jastrow.

The story was about a man Augie Baccus in the 1920s who was a great golfer. He tries to qualify for PGA Tour. He goes to Vegas to play in high stakes matches until he runs into Jimmy Diamonds with connections to the mob.

Augie tries to escape fearing death. The PG-13 movie is a drama, mystery, and comedy a mix of The Sting, Tin Cup, and Caddyshack. Overall is a pretty good golf movie that is 95 min long.

I love golf movies. There’s something about the combination of the sport’s precision and the cinematography that makes for a captivating viewing experience. From classic films like Caddyshack to more recent hits like The Legend of Bagger Vance, there’s no shortage of great golf movies to enjoy.

One of the things I appreciate most about golf movies is how they can capture both the humor and drama of the sport. Whether it’s the ridiculous antics of Bill Murray’s character in Caddyshack or the intense competition in The Greatest Game Ever Played, these films showcase the many facets of golf and its players. Plus, they often feature stunning golf courses and landscapes that make me want to book a tee time ASAP.

One of my all-time favorite scenes from a golf movie is the climactic final round in “The Legend of Bagger Vance.” The movie, which stars Will Smith and Matt Damon, tells the story of a struggling golfer who receives some much-needed guidance from a mysterious caddy. The final round, which takes place at a fictional golf course in Savannah, Georgia, is beautifully shot and expertly edited. The tension is palpable as the golfers battle it out on the course, and the final shot is both surprising and satisfying. It’s a scene that always gives me goosebumps, no matter how many times I watch it.

One of my all-time favorite golf movie moments is the “Cinderella Story” scene from Caddyshack. In this scene, Carl Spackler, played by Bill Murray, imagines himself winning the Masters tournament while practicing his swing in the middle of a thunderstorm. He narrates his own play-by-play commentary and hits a perfect shot, which he describes as “in your life, have you seen anything like that?”

Comparison of “The Squeeze” to some other popular golf movies:

  1. Caddyshack” – “The Squeeze” is like the less funny, less quotable cousin of “Caddyshack”. While “Caddyshack” is a classic comedy that has stood the test of time, “The Squeeze” falls flat in the humor department.
  2. Tin Cup” – “The Squeeze” tries to be like “Tin Cup”, but fails to capture the same sense of heart and charm. While “Tin Cup” is a movie about chasing your dreams and following your passion, “The Squeeze” is more about…I’m not really sure, actually.
  3. Happy Gilmore” – “The Squeeze” is like the poor man’s “Happy Gilmore”. While “Happy Gilmore” is a hilarious and iconic sports comedy, “The Squeeze” lacks the same level of humor and charm.
