At the same time as Christianity was undertaking its first Crusade, Roman sculpture was appearing for the first time in the heart of the Middle Ages. It was only the sculpturesof religious edificious that reached us., expressing the sensitiveness of a whole era.This work, which is enriched with nearly a hundred colour photographs from the allover France, is testimony to the artistic diversity of the different regions. The fantastic realm and symbolism expressed in the sculptures is discovered in the boldness and richness of their imagination, which expresses the internal interrogations of humanity.
